Service
The Basketball Coaches Association of New York is a service, advocacy and professional development organization. Basketball coaches in New York State have always been generous with their time and creativity in providing service to their communities. In order to facilitate the many various forms of service, we have organized the BCANY Service Movement.
The BCANY Service Games are modeled after the North Carolina Endowment Games and the Ohio Foundation Games.
Celebrating BCANY Service
Every season Brett Sippel and his team go to the soup kitchen and spend several hours helping out any way they can.

Congrats to Coach Sippel and the Wilson High men's bball team on all of their wonderful community service this season! Between assisting at a senior citizen's breakfast, hosting a Coaches vs. Cancer event, collecting donations for a local food pantry and working at a soup kitchen... these boys are a great example of how great NY High School basketball is! Keep up the great work!
Every season Brett Sippel and his team go to the soup kitchen and spend several hours helping out any way they can.
Both boys and girls teams at Windham Ashland Jewett Central School collected canned and non-perishable foods as an entry fee to four games this season to support the Hope Restoration Church Food Pantry in their community. The Hope Restoration Church Food Pantry hosts an annual fundraiser dinner to support the Booster Club, so the players and coaches were excited to find a way to give back!
The Hoosick Falls Boys and Girls Varsity and JV Basketball teams held a Free Throw Shoot-a-Thon (Hoosiers Hoop for Hope) in February before Sectionals. They raised a total of $5,814.75 for the Karen McGovern Fund, an organization funded to aid families dealing with cancer.
Wilson High School Basketball raised money for Coaches vs. Cancer through a half time half court shot competition. They also collected canned food items to donate to a local food pantry in a "White Out Hunger" project.
The Niagara Falls HS Boys team has participated in several community activities such as “Children’s Hospital Night” when the NFHS basketball team takes a week and sells t-shirts as well as collect donations at a home game and donate the proceeds to the Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.
